As known weak point of the SR20 valvetrain is rocker arms dislodging under high RPM, limiter cuts, or over-rev conditions. Denstoj Rocker Retainers are here to fix that.

We've now adapted our proven retainer clip system to suit the legendary Nissan SR20DE and SR20DET platforms.

These clips lock onto OEM rocker arms, paired with custom machined HLAs (Hydraulic Lash Adjusters) that accept the clip. The result? Rockers stay put, giving you confidence on limiter, at the track, or during a misfire event.

Please note that these are not a band aid for a poorly set up SR20 or a way to cut corners. They provide GTiR spring clip level of protection to every SR20DE. We still strongly recommend running correctly shimmed dual guides and a well tuned fuel cut rev limiter.

Fitment:

• We recommend running guide shims on both sides of the rocker arm to reduce lateral movement.
• If bleeding is required, be gentle. Forcing the plunger can damage the internal one-way valve. Use nothing stiffer than welding wire to release the air behind the one-way valve. A lifter that stays soft or won’t pump up is a sign the internal spring may have been damaged.

Q: Are the Denstoj Rocker Retainers compatible with Kelford camshafts, valve springs and their DLC Rocker Arms?
A: Yes. 

Q: With the Denstoj Rocker Retainers, can I increase the maximum RPM a bit without breaking the rockers?
A: With our Rocker Retainers it won't affect the strength of the Rocker Arms themselves, instead they add a safety margin by keeping the hydraulic lash adjuster/rocker stable when things get lively (reducing the chance of lift-off during valve float). 

Q: What is the RPM limit using Hydraulic Lash Adjusters (HLAs)?
A: The RPM capability of a hydraulic lash adjuster setup depends on many variables including valve spring rate, cam profile/lift, oil conditions, tune and the overall engine setup. Because of this, it is not possible to state one fixed RPM limit that applies to every combination. For high-RPM use, solid lifters provide a more robust solution and that's why they exist.

Q: Do I need to set valve lash?
A: No. As they're hydraulic lifters, you're not setting valve lash per say as that gap is taken up by the lifter once oil pressure is fed into the head. Instead, when running dual guide shims, what we recommend doing is is making sure the heights of the guides are within +/- 0.025mm of each other.
